Prime Minister of Ukraine
Volodymyr Groysman and Minister of Economy and Finance of France Michel Sapin met
on Friday with representatives of the French businesses working in Ukraine.
Volodymyr Groysman referred to
the enormous potential of bilateral economic relations of Ukraine and France,
particularly the growth of trade and investment.
The Prime Minister informed
the interlocutors about the actions of the Government to improve the business
environment in Ukraine. Thus, a series of measures aimed at combating
corruption were introduced, namely, formed the necessary legislation, and created
structures designed to curb corruption.
He also accentuated that the
judicial reform had been launched in Ukraine to obtain an efficient system of
justice.
The Government also prepared
new amendments to the Tax Code that will simplify tax administration, noted
Volodymyr Groysman.
Speaking of promising areas
for investment, the Head of Government noted that Ukraine can also achieve a
huge growth in the agricultural sector through the implementation of
innovations and increase of deep processing on the territory of Ukraine.
The Minister of Economy and
Finance of France Michel Sapin commended the efforts of the Ukrainian
Government on pursuing the reforms in Ukraine, noting that in France "the
situation is calm, but the process of reforms is rather complicated".
In turn, Volodymyr Groysman
thanked for the assessment of the work of the Government. He noted that reforms
in Ukraine are "not just underway, but also yield the result".
The Prime Minister stressed
that the Government had stabilized the economic situation in Ukraine.
He also noted that the
Government had established an ongoing dialogue with business. "Every two
months, a Government’s team meets with business representatives and these
meetings are realized in practical solutions. Our task is to ensure success of business
in Ukraine, and we'll do it", said the Prime Minister.
Present at the meeting
Secretary of the National Investment Council Borys Lozhkin noted
that infrastructure, aircraft construction, IT sector were currently attractive
for investment in Ukraine.
"It's an exciting time
for investors. Come to Ukraine now ", he said.
At this, the representatives
of French businesses stressed the improvement of business climate in Ukraine.
In particular, representative
of Credit Agricole S. A. Jérôme Brunel noted "great progress
in improving the judicial system." The PDG Atlantic company's representative
Pierre-Louis François expressed satisfaction with the level of skills of
Ukrainian workers. With having production facilities in Odessa he noted that
the company plans opening in Ukraine a center for scientific and research
solutions.
The company Soufflet that
is engaged in the production of seeds, expressed hope that Ukraine will be able
to negotiate the opening of EU market for seeds produced in Ukraine. In turn, Engie company
members told about plans to develop alternative energy in Ukraine.
"The businesses that are
operating in Ukraine, demonstrate absolutely optimism. They tell how they are
working, increasing their investment", said Volodymyr Groysman commenting
later on the results of the meeting with the business.
