Turkey's position on support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine remains unchanged

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In the context of the military coup that took place in Turkey in the night from 15 to 16 July 2016, the Ukrainian President reiterated the support of Ukraine's legitimately elected President and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured Poroshenko in the immutability of Turkey's position on support for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. The Turkish President also said that the Republic of Turkey does not recognize the occupation of the Crimea and to continue to fully support the Crimean Tatars.
