Officially: in Kiev, Moscow Avenue was renamed Avenue of Stepan Bandera

Moskovsky Avenue in Kyiv renamed the Avenue of Stepan Bandera. The decision was taken today, July 7, at the meeting of the city Council. «For» vote of 87 of the 97 registered members, UNIAN reports.

The draft decision was submitted for consideration as urgent and was included in the agenda on the initiative of Kyiv mayor.

According to the Deputy mayor — Secretary of Kyiv city Council Vladimir Prokopov, the document includes the renaming of only two avenues and five streets. At the same time, with the concurrence of the document during the procedure of its preparation for consideration at the meeting, the project received comments regarding two points out of seven names. Because of this, Prokop had to vote for the project without the two respective points.


Thus was the question of renaming the Avenue General Vatutin, who were asked to name the name of Roman Shukhevych, but also of the street Wanda Wasilewska in the street Vsevolod, Zmienko.

According to the adopted today the decision, the new titles received: ulitsa Kutuzova – now is the street General of the center, lane street lane Eugene Gutsalo, Bauman street — the street of Janusz Korczak, Suvorov street is now a street of Mikhail Omelyanovich-Pavlenko.

We will remind, on may 21, 2015 entered into force the law on prohibition of propaganda of Communist and national socialist (Nazi) regime, and their symbolism in Ukraine.
