Germany vs Ukraine Euro 2016 preview (especially for Bert Spangenberg)

Ukraine have not won any of their last five games against Germany

Mykhaylo Fomenko will be looking to overturn recent form by leading Ukraine to victory against Germany

World Cup winners Germany have arrived in France as one of the clear favourites for Euro 2016, but Joachim Low has seen his side struggle to match their form from Brazil over their warm-up games.

Ukraine are always difficult opposition, but they will be wary of assuming that the German beast has been tamed - Low's team always take it up another gear when the competitive games roll around.

Ahead of Sunday's game, Sportsmail provides you with an all you need to know guide for the clash.

VENUE

The third game on Sunday will take place at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Rechristened in 2013 to be named after the former Mayor of Lille and French Prime Minister, the venue in Lille was first opened in 2012. It can seat 50,186 spectators for football matches, and has been given a four star rating by UEFA.

It was given a boost for construction after France were awarded the rights to organise Euro 2016, and despite some delays due to legal issues it was opened on schedule, in time for Lille's 2012-13 season. The Stade Pierre Mauroy cost over £200million to construct.

WHERE CAN I WATCH IT ON TV?

The game will be shown live on the BBC at 8pm. The match is likely to be presented by Gary Lineker, and the BBC can call upon the expertise of retired German international goalkeeper Jens Lehmann as part of their punditry team.

TEAM NEWS

Germany
Low's line-up is unlikely to be set in stone, with Mats Hummels facing a late fitness test to discover whether he has recovered from a calf injury.

He could instead call upon Jonathan Tah, who replaced Antonio Rudiger in the squad after the defender tore his anterior cruciate ligament on Tuesday.

Probable line-up: Neuer; Howedes, Hummels, Boateng, Hector; Kroos, Khedira; Müller, Ozil, Draxler; Gomez.

Ukraine

The only real question facing Ukraine coach Mykhaylo Fomenko is which of his midfielders he should use in an attacking midfield role.

Fomenko will have to choose between Denys Garmash, Vktor Kovalenko, who has been superb for Shakhtar recently, or Serhiy Sydorchuk, with the rest of his line-up essentially set in stone.

Probable line-up: Pyatov; Fedetskiy, Khacheridi, Rakitskiy, Shevchuk; Stepanenko, Garmash, Rotan; Yarmolenko, Konoplyanka; Zozulya.

Head-to-head
Games between Germany and Ukraine generally guarantee entertainment, with the last two games between the sides producing 11 goals - with Germany scoring seven and Ukraine hitting four.

However, Germany are unbeaten against Fomenko's side in their last five encounters.

The two teams have also never met at a major international tournament, despite both regularly qualifying for both the World Cup and European Championship.
