Poroshenko bans all Russian films released after Jan 1, 2014

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed bill No. 3359 into law to amend the Cinematography Law, introducing a ban on all films released from January 1, 2014, if they are produced by an aggressor state.

The Verkhovna Rada reported it received the signed law on April 20, according to a posting on the Rada's official website.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ukrainian parliament on March 29, 2016, passed amendments to the Cinematography Law in relation to films produced by individuals or companies from an aggressor state, extending a ban on the broadcasting of the films that were released or screened after January 1, 2014, irrespective of their content.
Under the amended law, all films produced after August 1, 1991, to popularize law enforcement agencies of an aggressor state or propagate their activity will not be allowed for screening/broadcasting in Ukraine irrespective of a country of origin.
The amendments were supported by 237 out of 351 MPs registered for voting.
The amended law shall become effective the next day after its official publication.
Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada officially designated Russia as an aggressor state on January 27, 2015.
