At its meeting
the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution "On
approval of National Social Programme on Combating Trafficking in Human
Beings for the period until 2020".
The document was
developed to ensure implementation of the National Action Plan
on implementation of the second phase of the Action Plan on Liberalization
of the EU visa regime for Ukrainian citizens.
In his
presentation of the act, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine
Pavlo Rozenko noted the importance of the adoption of the National Program,
which will allow to identify concrete measures to combat human
trafficking, to outline the responsibilities and directions of work
of central and local executive authorities in these issues. The
Programme aims to prevent trafficking in persons, to improve the
efficiency of identifying those committingrelevant crimes or participating
in such crimes, to protect the rights and provide assistance
to victims of trafficking.
The adoption of the National
Programme will afford:
· to ensure
implementation of a comprehensive national policy on combating human
trafficking;
· to increase the
efficiency of central and local executive authorities in the sphere
of combating human trafficking;
· to enhance
interaction between public authorities, international, public organizations and
other legal entities in the sphere of combating human trafficking;
· to raise public awareness on
issues connected to trafficking and assistance when getting in such
situation;
· to improve
the skills of civil servants, in particular in law enforcement and
judicial sectors etc.
