Majority of Ukrainians would favor Ukraine membership in EU and NATO

The majority of Ukrainians would support Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO, if the referendum on the issue were held, the Ukrainian sociological group Rating reported referring to the results of its survey.

Among those surveyed, 59% of respondents would support becoming a member of the EU, 22% of respondents said they would vote against such move, the rest could not answer the question or refused to participate in the survey.


At the same time, based on results of the public opinion survey, only 16% of respondents would favor Ukraine's membership in the Customs Union, while 62% of respondents would be against it, while the rest could not answer the question or did not participate in the survey.

Regarding the NATO membership, the survey showed that 47% of respondents would favor joining NATO, while 31% of respondents would turn down such move, the rest could not answer the question or did not take part in the poll.

The survey was held by the sociological group Rating between January14 and January 22, 2016. A total of 2,000 citizens aged 18 years and older were surveyed. The survey was conducted in the format of personal interviews. The poll's margin of error was 2.3%.
