Ukraine and Canada have
taken a decision to finally sign and submit for
ratification to the national parliaments the FTA between countries. For
June it is scheduled a Ukrainian-Canadian business forum to attract additional
investment and enhance bilateral trade. Prime Minister of Ukraine
Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced on Monday, February 1, at a briefing
following the meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Stéphane Dion.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed that during the meeting they had discussed the agenda of
bilateral relations between Ukraine and Canada for the next year.
The Head of
Ukrainian Government reminded that back in July of 2015
during his visit to Canada, Ukraine and Canada had concluded negotiations
on a free trade zone between Ukraine and Canada and initialled the
appropriate document.
"This year we have
agreed that such an agreement must be finally signed and
submitted to national parliaments for ratification", he stressed.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk highlighted
that this Agreement means "the opening of our joint markets and
another step to help Ukraine to overcome not just military but also
economic aggression continued by the Russian Federation".
The Prime Minister
of Ukraine informed that a joint Ukrainian-Canadian business forum is
due in June withan aim to leverage investment into the Ukrainian
economy and enhance the volume of bilateral trade between Ukraine and
Canada.
