President Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine demands setting clear
deadlines for the Minsk agreements in 2016 as Russia disrupted the fulfillment
of its obligations.
“All items of the Minsk agreements must be fulfilled. As Russia
disrupted the fulfillment of its obligations, we demand setting clear deadline
for the Minsk agreements in 2016,” the President emphasized in the course of
his trip to Ternopil region. The negotiations in the Normandy format would be
focused on that issue, as stated by Petro Poroshenko.
Once again, the President emphasized that there is no alternative to the
Minsk process. “These are clear obligations that provide for the political
settlement of the conflict, restoration of control over the uncontrolled area
of the Ukrainian-Russian border, withdrawal of all occupation troops and
illegal armed groups from the territory of Ukraine and restoration of Ukrainian
sovereignty over the occupied territories of Ukraine,” the Head of State
reminded.
The President also added that a reliable partner and ally of Ukraine –
Germany assumed the OSCE chairmanship on January 1. In this context, Ukraine
expects to expand the mandate and the number of the OSCE observers.
