system reforms Ukraine has undertaken, Lithuania contributes advice and
capacity to practically facilitate the achievement of Ukraine’s aspiration to
have its Armed Forces interoperable with NATO militaries by 2020, a goal set
forth in Ukraine’s Military Strategy 2015. An in the meanwhile, the decision on
NATO membership is for the people of Ukraine to make,” Vice Minister of
National Defence Marijus Velička says.
The highlights of this year’s Forum will be the modernisation and
development of Ukraine, regional cooperation, energy security and foreign
policy. Other issues to be addressed are state decentralisation, the
opportunities the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement opens, and
development of civic education.
The Forum is annually organised by the Institute for Eastern Studies. Since
2007, the event has been held in Hungary, Poland and Ukraine.
