Support group for Ukraine ready to facilitate activities of Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office – Japan ambassador

The Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Nazar Kholodnytsky, and Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi on December 11 discussed the main tasks of this authority and the possibility of assistance from foreign experts.

"The main objective of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office is the fight against corruption and overcoming this phenomenon thanks to effective legal measures, whose implementation will allow to lay the foundation for a new Ukraine, will contribute to its development and meet the expectations of the society," Kholodnytsky said.


Sumi, in turn, noted the presidency of Japan in the G7 in 2016 and declared its readiness in this regard to take active efforts to support reforms in Ukraine and provide it with the necessary assistance within the framework of cooperation within the support group for Ukraine, established at the level of ambassadors of the G7 states in Kyiv. 


The ambassador also informed about the readiness of the group to provide the necessary assistance to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, in particular through training prosecutors, as well as involving Japanese experts in familiarizing with the best international practices in the field of anti-corruption activities.
