Vladyslava Rutytska, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food
of Ukraine on European Integration, reported during a meeting with the agrarian
societies, unions and business associations of Ukraine, the Ukrainian producers
should be supported by the Government on the international market.
The main purpose of the event was to take into account the national
interests in the framework of the free trade agreement between Ukraine and the
State of Israel.
During the meeting, the national agricultural producers received the
important information on the main tools which the State of Israel uses for the
protection of the domestic market, particularly, on the rates of the import
duties and tariff quotas.
“Today, we are discussing the list of goods, which the State of Israel
imports in a significant volume and the list of the major agricultural
products’ suppliers to Israel, which would be Ukraine’s competitors on the
market. For instance, this is the matter of frozen beef and fish frames, eggs,
grain, wheat flour etc. It is important for the Ukrainian agricultural
producers to be protected and to benefit from the establishment of theFree
Trade Zone between the two countries,” the Deputy Minister stressed.
In the course of the meeting, the participants discussed the further issues
of increasing the Ukrainian products’ export to Israel.
“Moreover, we find it very important to consider the issue of the degree of
Ukrainian internal market liberalization, and to define the sensitive groups of
goods which need to be protected in the competition with the goods from the
State of Israel,” Vladyslava Rutytska stressed.
For reference: The share of
Israeli export of goods, for 10 months of 2015, has comprised 2.6%. The share of
Israel in the import of goods, for 10 months of 2015, has accounted for 0.21 %.
Israel is in the TOP-20 countries of the biggest Ukrainian partners, in terms
of trade turnover (and holds the 15th position) and is ranked
the 13th in exports and the 63rd in imports.
Ukraine exports to Israel a wide range of agricultural products, namely:
crops (corn, wheat, barley etc.), soy, wheat flour, vegetable oil, eggs etc.
