Ukraine is confidently moving towards the visa-free regime with the EU

Parliamentary adoption of draft laws of the visa-free package brings Ukraine closer to the implementation of the Plan of actions on the liberalization of the visa-free regime with the EU, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko.

“I am confident that this week will become historic, because Ukraine adopted extremely important decisions and made a crucial step that brought it really close to the implementation of the Plan of actions on the visa-free regime,” the Head of State noted at the meeting with famous financier, philanthropist and founder of the International Renaissance Foundation George Soros.

The President commended positive vote on anti-discrimination amendment to the Labor Code. According to the President, it is the beginning of formation of a new European face of new Ukraine and confirmation of pro-European evolution of Ukrainian mentality.

The Head of State thanked people’s deputies for supporting the above mentioned decisions. “I am sure that it is our common achievement – President, Government, Parliament, civil society, journalists, the entire Ukrainian nation, everyone who didn’t stay aside and demonstrated significant progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.

The President praised the adoption of a package of anti-corruption laws. “It is the evidence of resolute intentions to fight against corruption,” Petro Poroshenko said.

As guarantor of lawfulness in the country, the President will demand prompt and efficient work of the anti-corruption bodies.

In his turn, founder of the International Renaissance Foundation George Soros emphasized the importance of a package of legislative decisions adopted by the Parliament of Ukraine, for it would pave the way towards the visa-free regime with the EU and promote further development of Ukraine. “It is an important step towards the increase of investment attractiveness of Ukraine. Investors will be more and more interested in the prospects of investment in Ukraine,” he noted. George Soros also called it a great victory of the Ukrainian nation that Ukraine had not only repelled Russian aggression, but also implemented necessary reforms that brought it closer to the European community.
