President of Ukraine and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury discussed prospects of cooperation

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew.
The Head of State thanked the American party for the firm political support for Ukraine and practical assistance, inter alia, in the form of loan guarantees.

The President noted the role of the U.S. as a strategic and reliable partner of Ukraine in the issue of the IMF funding programs and debt restructuring.

The parties discussed the course of reforms in Ukraine, particularly tax and anti-corruption reform. They also agreed to enhance cooperation on the search of money stolen in Ukraine. The President also highlighted the importance of cooperation in the process of deoligarchization of Ukraine.


The Head of State informed on the situation in Donbas, particularly on the intensified shelling of Ukrainian positions.

In his turn, Jacob Lew stressed that the United States would continue to insist on the necessity of full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, who is on his second visit to Ukraine over the past year, emphasized that the U.S. welcomed the willingness of the Ukrainian nation to live in an independent, secure and prosperous state.

Jacob Lew noted significant progress in the reformation of Ukraine and emphasized the importance of further commitment to the course of reforms. He noted the importance of international efforts for the attraction of multinational support for the Ukrainian reforms and called trust in the authorities a key factor of success.

The parties coordinated positions on the eve of the G20 Summit in Antalya, where the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury will be heading after his visit to Ukraine.
