President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of
Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasize the inadmissibility of oppression of the
Crimean Tatars by the Russian authorities.
Poroshenko and Erdogan discussed this during the
telephone conversation, Ukraine’s President press office informs.
"The presidents of Ukraine and Turkey paid
special attention to the consolidation of efforts to counter external threats
and challenges. Poroshenko thanked Erdogan for Turkey's support for the
territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The President of Turkey stressed that his
country would continue contributing to restoration of the Ukraine's territorial
integrity by diplomatic means. Erdogan once again he stressed that Turkey did
not recognize the illegal annexation of Ukrainian Crimea and thanked the
Ukrainian President for the attention he paid to the rights of the Crimean
Tatars in the occupied peninsula. The parties focused on the inadmissibility of
oppression of the Crimean Tatars by the Russian authorities and called for the
continuation of cooperation in order to protect their legitimate rights,"
reads the statement.
In addition, the parties discussed ways to develop
strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey.
