Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security
Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, will travel to Ukraine and
Georgia next week. The visits are part of a broader tour of the partner
countries of the Eastern Partnership.
On Monday in Kyiv she will meet the President of Ukraine Petro
Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Foreign Minister Pavlo
Klimkin. She will meet the Speaker of Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman as well
as representatives of political factions in the parliament. The High
Representative/Vice-President is also due to speak with civil society
organisations and the leaders of Crimean Tatars.
In Tbilisi on Tuesday the agenda of the HRVP includes meetings with
President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign
Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili. She will also meet the Chairman of the
Parliament David Usupashvili and leaders of the parliamentary factions, as well
as with civil society. Federica Mogherini will speak at the International High
Level Conference "Achieving Gender Equality" and pay a field visit to
the Administrative Boundary Line, with the EU's Monitoring Mission (EUMM
Georgia).
Background
Ukraine and Georgia are two of the six partner countries of the EaP.
Both have signed the Association Agreement/Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade
Area with the European Union.
