President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting
with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair who arrived in Kyiv to take part in
the 12th Yalta European Strategy Annual Meeting.
The President thanked Tony Blair for a lasting
powerful protection of Ukraine by the United Kingdom in the international
arena: “Your country is one of the strongest advocates of Ukraine in the
process of its European integration. You provide significant assistance in
economic, political, social and security spheres,” the Head of State noted.
The President informed Tony Blair on the situation in
Donbas noting almost full compliance with the ceasefire regime since the end of
August. It has happened for the first time in 1.5 years.
The Head of State also reminded that immediately after
successful vote in the Parliament, sanctions against the country-aggressor have
been prolonged by the EU. “It demonstrates unity of the European Union, which
is crucial for us today,” the President said.
Tony Blair commended Ukraine’s progress on the track
of reforms and assured of full support for the territorial integrity and
sovereignty of our state.
