Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China
possess a great potential for deepening bilateral trade and economic
cooperation. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and
food Yaroslav Krasnopolskyduring a press conference on the outcomes
of the 5th meeting of the Subcommission on Agricultural Cooperation
of the Cooperation Commission between the Governments of Ukraine and China.
"The visit of the Ukrainian delegation has
confirmed that the relationship with China is becoming more powerful. We have
analyzed the understandings achieved during the previous meeting, of which 75%
have already been implemented, and outlined new prospects for our
collaboration. The trip was successful, we received the support and
were assured of the great interest of China to export Ukrainian agricultural
products. A lion's share of our negotiations was focused on this issue. The
interest is high, I think that soon we will have tangible results of the
visit," stressed Yaroslav Krasnopolsky, who headed the
delegation.
There were held fruitful talks with the
management of the Export-Import Bank of China, representatives of the General
Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China and
China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation. During the meetings with
representatives of business, state agrarian organizations and agricultural
associations the Ukrainian delegation presented promising areas for investment.
"We have heard the willingness of both public and private sector to work
in Ukraine. There have already arrived some interested investors from China,
who wish to take part in the project of port elevator construction
with the capacity of 50 – 100 thousand tons worth $ 2.5 billion. They expect
proposals for prospective sites to implement the project," informed the
First Deputy Minister.
To step up economic ties the Ministry of
Agrarian Policy is ready to host a meeting of representatives of Ukrainian and
Chinese business directed to strengthening bilateral contacts and raising
opportunities for implementing joint projects in agricultural production,
logistics areas and the like.
