On July 17 last year Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down
over Ukraine by a Russian anti-aircraft system with the loss of 298 lives. A
year on the Kremlin remains in denial about the role of Russian-backed rebels
in the tragedy. It remains an obstacle to peace in Ukraine, violating both the spirit and the letter of the
Minsk accords intended to de-escalate the violence there.
