The European Parliament Committee on International Trade has approved the allocation of macro-financial assistance worth EUR 1.8 billion to Ukraine.
"Today, the European Parliament Committee on International Trade has supported the Commission's proposal to provide the third package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine worth EUR 1.8 billion," says the source.
According to the rapporteur on the subject, Lithuanian parliamentarians Gabrielius Landsbergis, this decision has demonstrated a strong consensus among the political forces in the European Parliament, which provided approval of such an unprecedented amount of aid to Ukraine without delay.
It is expected that after the final adoption of the program by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU, the first tranche for Ukraine would be transferred until the year's end, and the second - in early 2016.
