Coordination Council for Digital Economy Development launches activity in Ukraine

On July 5, 2018, a constituent meeting of the Coordination Council for for the Development of Digital Economy and Society was held under the chairmanship of Stepan Kubiv, First Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
On opening the meeting Stepan Kubiv emphasized that the task of the Coordinating Council is to organize the implementation of the action plan for the digitization of the economy and society for 2018 and further establishment of effective cooperation in this area between the Government, business, public organizations and society.

"Digitalization is the main promising direction of development of the Ukrainian economy and society. But its effectiveness depends on the clarity of tasks - a mission and the vision of our collaboration. Proper organization of this process is a major step to success", said Stepan Kubiv.
He emphasized that the Coordination Council and its working groups should prepare qualitative proposals regarding creating of necessary conditions to ensure the effective development and use of Ukraine's scientific and technological potential in the sector of digital infrastructure development, in particular, in terms of providing broadband Internet access throughout Ukraine.
"Future belongs to the Internet: an economic and digital breakthrough can be achieved when all stakeholders develop coherence in actions and decisions. We are talking about the National Plan of Development of Broadband Internet Access. Within this Coordination Council framework we should make this work effective", Stepan Kubiv emphasized.
Mykhailo Titarchuk, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, added that among the objectives of the Coordination Council and its working subgroups would be to develop strategic decisions along directions within responsibility of such subgroups. The Coordinating Council is to have a meeting twice a month.
"The Council will prove its efficiency if we work together on key digitalization tasks, for instance, access to infrastructure, which is essential for digital capabilities. Law No. 1834-VIII was adopted a year ago, but now a number of ministries must adopt certain documents in order to provide access to broadband Internet throughout Ukraine", said Mykhailo Titarchuk.
