PESCO – Changing European security structures to Ukraine’s west
While blog comment is occasionally made relating the the Ukrainian military industrial complex, or slightly more often the numerous kinetic and non-kinetic fronts opened by The Kremlin in its war with Ukraine, notwithstanding infrequent mention of NATO – or more precisely meeting NATO standards as far as Ukraine is concerned, there has been almost a complete absence of comment regarding EU security and defence structures.
To be blunt, if not an oversight exactly, such absence has been caused by very little movement within the EU Common Security & Defence Policy for years. Indeed mention of the EU CSDP has generally related to Ukrainian ratified obligations to the CSDP and European Defence Agency (EDA) policies within the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
