La La Land

La La Land is a 2016 American romantic musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend and Rosemarie DeWitt. The plot follows a musician and an aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles.

The film's title is a reference both to a nickname for the city of Los Angeles and to the idiom for being out of touch with reality. La La Land had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 31, 2016, and was released in the United States on December 9, 2016 by Summit Entertainment. The film received widespread acclaim from critics and has grossed $72 million worldwide. It was chosen by the American Film Institute as one of the top ten films of 2016, and won the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Picture.
