In the framework of a trip to
the Ukrainian peacekeepers in Kosovo (Republic of Serbia), Vice Prime Minister
for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze paid
a visit to Belgrade and held a number of meetings with the top officials of the
Republic of Serbia, in particular, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić,
Minister of Defence Zoran Đorđević, Minister
without portfolio in charge of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović,
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić, Minister
of Finance Dušan Vujović.
Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić stressed
that Serbia supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine: “Our
position is clear. And this decision will remain unchanged. A border issue is
also difficult and sensitive for us."
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze told
Mr Vučić about the aggravation of the situation in the east of
Ukraine, caused by the increasing attacks by the so-called DNR and LNR. In such
developments, the Vice-Prime Minister noted, the elections in certain districts
of Donetsk and Luhansk regions are out of question. "We are facing the
aggression of an external enemy. Every day we are losing our people who die
from Russian weapons. So, for us it is of extreme importance the international
support of our integrity, still freedom and independence are among the top
values for Ukrainians. And every day we are demonstrating the ability to fight
for them," said IvannaKlympush-Tsintsadze.
Vice Prime Minister also
assured the Serbian side that Ukraine supports the territorial integrity of
Serbia and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as the need
for the implementation of the Brussels agreement.
Moreover, the Prime Minister
of Serbia noted the importance of signing a free trade agreement with Ukraine,
which will strengthen economic ties between our countries. Both our countries
are moving to Europe, we have common historical ties. Therefore, there is the
need to enhance cultural and social cooperation, exchange experiences and
establish closer cooperation, particularly in tourism and agricultural sector.
