Canada to continue training Ukrainian military - meeting between President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Canada


Ukraine and Canada will continue cooperation in military-technical sphere. It was stated by President Petro Poroshenko in the course of the joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Canada.
The Head of State thanked the Government of Canada for the assistance in military-technical sphere. Petro Poroshenko emphasized that a professional army was the first outpost in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and noted the contribution of Canadian military instructors who work in Ukraine and enhance national security of our state.

In the framework of his official visit to Ukraine, Justin Trudeau plans to visit Lviv region on July 12 and examine the work of Canadian instructors in Yavoriv training area. The President informed: "We have agreed that this program of cooperation will be continued. Canada will help us create a new professional army".
The Canadian Prime Minister emphasized that his country would further help Ukraine counter Russian aggression. "We are focused on the training mission Canada implements making Ukrainian servicemen more efficient in the protection from the enemy that encroaches on the Ukrainian territory. We are glad to take part in that," he informed.
Justin Trudeau has also noted that Canada would increase the number of police officers to train Ukrainian colleagues.
