Volodymyr Groysman says Gov't to continue cooperation with IMF in line with national interests understanding the need for reforms in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will continue cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and implementation of the conditions of the cooperation agreement in line with the national interests, while understanding the need for reforms in Ukraine. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during a conversation with journalists regarding the results of the meeting of the Government on Wednesday, 20 April.
"We will act professionally in order to determine the proper positions of interaction in line with the national interests, while understanding the need for structural reforms," stated Volodymyr Groysman, answering the question about further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.

The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine had signed an agreement with the IMF foreseeing a number of tasks to perform. "The function of the Government and duty of the Government is to faithfully fulfill the commitments undertaken by Ukraine," said Volodymyr Groysman.
The Prime Minister stressed that the cooperation plan with IMF is a plan for reforms needed especially by Ukraine. "Unfortunately, they [reforms] are painful, but they will affect the fact that Ukraine will become a strong country with the strong economy and adequate social standards," said Volodymyr Groysman.
Among the unpopular decisions needed to be taken, in particular, is the adoption of economically groundedgas price, said the Prime Minister. He emphasized that the Cabinet of Ministers is working on it, to make the formation of tariff open, public and clear for the Ukrainian society.
"Where there is a loop for underpriced gas, there is billions worth fraud, which is bad for Ukrainian society. Have no doubt that lowered gas tariffs mean that the difference is paid out of the pockets of those who are unfamiliar with these issues," noted Volodymyr Groysman, noting that the Government is addressing this issue.
