President had a phone conversation with Nadiya Savchenko

President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Ukrainian pilot, people’s deputy Nadiya Savchenko who is illegally retained in Russian prison. The conversation took place in the course of the meeting with mother of Nadiya Savchenko Mariya Ivanivna and her sister Vira.

In the course of the conversation, Petro Poroshenko noted that he was happy to finally have an opportunity to communicate with Nadiya. He emphasized that the whole country was proud of her persistence and supported her. “The entire country is proud of you, your persistence, courage and patriotism. You have become a symbol of Ukraine,” the President said.
The Head of State informed Nadiya Savchenko on the actions aimed at her liberation and told the details of his phone conversation with President of Russia Putin.

“Ukraine keeps doing everything for your liberation,” Petro Poroshenko said.
The President, Nadiya’s mother and sister asked her to stop the hunger strike. “Even in such conditions, we should preserve your health,” he noted.
Nadiya Savchenko agreed to stop the hunger strike temporarily.

The President informed on his willingness to send his plane to Russia to bring Nadiya Savchenko back home.
