Japanese banking expert Masaku Tanaca appointed advisor to Ukrainian Minister of Finance

Masaru Tanaca, a banking expert from Japan, has been appointed an advisor to Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko. In his new position Mr. Tanaca will be advising the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine on strengthening and restructuring of the banking sector.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine is continuing to engage well-respected international experts, in order to resort to successful international experience in implementing reform, fostering investments and economic growth as well as in boosting employment. 


The advisors’ team of the Ministry of Finance o Ukraine already includes former deputy prime minister and minister of finance of Slovakia Ivan Miklos, international economists and experts Chris Wales and Robert Conrad as well as the prominent American economist Arthur Laffer. Mr. Masaru Tanaca joined this team in January 2016. 

Mr. Masaru Tanaca is an expert with a long working experience, - comprising almost 30 years, - in leading positions at the Bank of Japan. He also worked as an advisor to the chairman of the Central Bank of the UAE and an IMF advisor to the Centra Bank of Myanmar.

Mr. Tanaca’s work in Ukraine was agreed under the bilateral agreement between Ukraine and Japan on technical cooperation. His work in Ukraine is supported by the Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA).
