Financial impact of Business Ombudsman Council for Ukraine equivalent to $100 mln

Business Ombudsman Algirdas Semeta for Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Initiative estimates the financial impact of the work of the Business Ombudsman Council for Ukraine at roughly UAH 2.3 billion (around $100 million) since its launch last May, according to a statement by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The Council has received over 580 complaints from businesses, launched 340 investigations and resolved over 48% of these cases, he told while on a visit to the EBRD.


Ukraine is stepping up its efforts to combat corruption and improve its business environment and a central element of this campaign is its Business Ombudsman Council. 

The Council is funded by the EBRD-Ukraine Stabilisation and Sustainable Growth Multi-Donor Account, which is supported by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
