EU wants to keep gas transit through Ukraine - European Commission

The EU is convinced that all the parties should be interested in Ukraine as the important country for Russian gas transit.

This is stated in the draft report of the European Commission at the progress towards the Energy Union, available to an Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels.

"The EU is convinced that all the parties are interested that Ukraine remains the important transit country," reads the document.

The report will be presented by Vice President of the European Commission for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič to the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament, the EU Committee of the Regions, the European Economic and Social Committee on November 18.

It is noted that the reverse gas supplies to Ukraine through Slovakia has allowed the Ukrainian side to reduce the direct dependence on Russia.
