U.S. says Ukraine made substantial progress in fighting corruption

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk have made important progress in the fight against corruption.

Such statement was released by a spokesperson for Mr. Biden, Stephen Spector, according to Novoye Vremya.
According to Spector, Vice President and the White House officials have repeatedly stressed the importance of Ukraine's anti-corruption effort as a key element of economic and political reforms, and the significant progress that Ukrainian President and Prime Minister have made in this respect.

At this Spector noted that the U.S. continues working with the government of Ukraine to support the government's reform plan, as well as security of the country.

Earlier Novoye Vremya reported, with reference to its sources in the U.S., that Special Advisor to the Vice President Michael Carpenter said at a press briefing that the White House was concerned over a scale of corruption in Ukraine.
