In the UK, Bank Monese began its work.
In Monese exiles or expatriates can open an account in minutes whereas the normal opening a bank account in the traditional British banks may be subject to special requirements or bureaucratic difficulties for them
Here is a history of Monese:
"Opening a current account can be ridiculously hard
- especially if you don't yet have citizenship. Our founder Norris Koppel
experienced this firsthand when he moved to the UK. While still new in the
country, he was faced with a daunting task – opening a UK bank account as a
foreigner.
The process of opening a simple bank account
was slow and bureaucratic, taking several stressful weeks - a long time when
you’re eager to settle in to your new life abroad.
He figured that if everything else can be done
online these days, there must be a better way to bank too. That's how the idea
of Monese was born.
