War for Ukraine will be finished only after the return of all the territories of Donbas and Crimea

War will be finished only after Ukraine returns all the territories of Donbas and Crimea, as stated by President Petro Poroshenko in the interview to "STB" TV channel. "How much time will it take? As much as necessary," the Head of State answered the question about his forecast when the military confrontation will be finished.

"The issue of ensuring sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of our Homeland is the top priority," the President noted. Ukraine will be uncompromising in this issue, as stated by Petro Poroshenko.

At the same time, Petro Poroshenko noted that the most optimal scenario for Ukraine "is to stop war and return Donbas peacefully". "We must do everything for it to come true," the President said.

The Head of State emphasized that Ukraine, the OSCE and the entire world must force Russia and Russian-backed militants to stop shelling and withdraw heavy weaponry. For this end, Ukraine and the OSCE addressed Russia at the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group with a series of initiatives on the withdrawal of artillery. Petro Poroshenko has also noted the importance of immediate liberation of hostages and ensuring full and unimpeded access for the OSCE inspectors.

The President suggested comparing the situation in the cities already returned under the control of Ukraine and the cities still controlled by militants. "In such conditions, people certainly prefer Ukraine. I am absolutely sure that the only possible scenario is the end of war and gradual, firm reintegration back into Ukraine," the President said.

"This situation cannot be solved by military means. War only breeds counteraction, especially when the Russian Federation is involved in it," the President emphasized.
