The National Security Strategy of Ukraine


May 6, 2015 a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, which adopted the National Security Strategy of Ukraine - the main document of defense planning.

The strategy is designed for implementation until 2020, the priorities of national security policy, as well as the reforms envisaged in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and Strategy for Sustainable Development "Ukraine - 2020". The main thing in the strategy - to create a new system of national security and defense, capable of ensuring national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine on the whole complex of possible threats, especially from armed aggression.

Also, the Council of National Security and Defense considered the issue of strengthening the defense capability of the state and to take additional measures to ensure it. Carefully analyze military threats and possible scenarios, processed swift action to counter military aggression.


The meeting approved a set of measures to accelerate the construction of fortified lines and borders, strengthening the security and defense capabilities of the state, development of military medical support. During the period of construction disruption of defensive lines were reprimanded Chairman of Donetsk and Transcarpathian Regional State Administration.

At the same time, important decisions on capacity development and management of the military-industrial complex, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard with modern weapons and military equipment of national production, improving missile technology. An interdepartmental commission on military-industrial complex (working body of the National Security and Defense of Ukraine).

After reviewing the issue "On measures to strengthen the fight against crime" decided to develop and accelerate the adoption of relevant laws, in particular, the Law "On the National Police." The complex of urgent measures to combat crime, in particular, will be directed to the prevention and investigation of particularly serious offenses involving firearms, such as premeditated murder, robbery, unlawful confinement, raiding.

National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine heard a report from the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov on the status of the investigation of resonant crimes.


In addition, the meeting discussed the issue of energy security. There are measures on de-monopolization of the energy markets, diversification of sources of supply, the development of nuclear energy, the use of hidden reserves of fuel and energy complex, providing all the necessary energy coal grades, the preparation for the heating season 2015-2016.
