The new Regional Department of Maritime Security will take greater control over the entire maritime border from Izmail to Mariupol - Ukrainian President

During the visit to the center of preparation of border guards, President Petro Poroshenko informed that Ukraine had been accumulating the respective component for the protection of its territory from the maritime invasion.
“By the end of the year, the new Regional Department of Maritime Security will have been deployed pursuant to my instruction. It will take greater control over the entire maritime border from Izmail to Mariupol,” the Head of State informed.

The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recalled holding large-scale military exercises at the Sea of Azov on the protection of the Ukrainian coast of the Sea of Azov, in which the units of the Navy, Land Forces, National Guard and State Border Service participated.
"I had an opportunity to see the high level of training of the marines, land units and Ukrainian border guards," Petro Poroshenko stressed. He also added that a system of military reserves with a powerful armament and armored vehicles capable of covering the threatening directions in the shortest possible time was created.
The Head of State noted that in order to cover the territory of Ukraine from the sea "we are taking another great steps" on re-equipment of the border guards – the units of the operational response "DOZOR" were formed according to the best world standards, inter alia, for carrying out special actions on the water.
The Head of State said that in order to strengthen the aviation component, 24 modern light patrol helicopters will be purchased for the border guard service in the next two years.
